Can I extend my Visa on Arrival in Bali?

Updated 30 October 2026 · 4 min read · Facts as of October 2026

Quick answer

Yes. The Visa on Arrival (B1 / e-VOA) gives you 30 days and can be extended once for a further 30 days, for a maximum of 60 days in Indonesia. The extension must be filed before your first 30 days run out. It cannot be extended a second time.

How long you get

The electronic Visa on Arrival gives nationals of eligible countries 30 days in Indonesia for tourism, meetings or short business. One extension of 30 days is allowed, so the most you can stay on a VOA is 60 days. If you know you want longer than that, a C1 tourist visa (60 days, extendable to 180) is the better starting point.

When to file

File before the first 30 days expire. We recommend starting at least a week ahead, and immigration asks for extension requests at least 14 days before expiry for visit stays in general. Leaving it to the last few days risks slipping into overstay, which carries a daily fine.

What it costs

The official government fee for a 30-day visit stay extension is IDR 500,000. Our service fee is quoted separately and shown before you pay.

What we need from you

  • A clear scan of your passport bio page
  • A clear photo of your arrival stamp (the entry stamp in your passport)
  • Your current address in Indonesia and intended departure date

With these we file the extension for you, so you do not need to visit the immigration office in Denpasar or anywhere else.

Can I extend it again?

No. After the single extension you must leave Indonesia. Frequent visitors often switch to a multiple-entry visa (D1 tourist or D2 business), which is valid for one, two or five years with stays of up to 60 days per entry.

Visa For Indonesia is a private visa-assistance service, not the Indonesian government. Rules, fees and eligibility change; the figures below are correct as of October 2026 and you can always check or apply directly at evisa.imigrasi.go.id.

Common questions

Do I need to leave Bali to extend my VOA?
No. The extension is filed while you are in Indonesia. Send us a passport scan and your arrival stamp and we handle the filing.
Can I extend a visa-free entry?
No. Visa-free entry for ASEAN and other exempt nationalities is 30 days and cannot be extended or converted. If you may want longer, enter on an e-VOA instead.
What if my VOA has already expired?
You are overstaying and a daily fine applies. Contact us immediately so the stay can be regularised before it becomes a deportation case.
